Fundraising events

We are now looking to the Centre's future and starting to create the causes to buy a building which will be a long-term base for the Centre in Leeds. This would mean that many more people can use the Centre to come to classes and residential courses. There would be room for more residents, and space for a World Peace Cafe. Many people would get the chance to learn about meditation, develop peaceful minds, and ultimately create a peaceful world.

In order to make this happen we’re going to be organising some fun fundraising events. Here’s a taster of what’s going on:

Books etc Sale
We have been selling books, CDs and DVDs online to raise money for the Centre and have raised £1,500 since last summer. We are also planning to hold a Book Sale event with coffee morning, cake stall and tombola (details to be announced). We’re now collecting bric a brac and prizes for the tombola, and of course we are still collecting books, CDs and DVDs. If you would like to help collect items and perhaps put up a poster in your staff room at work you can download one here, and please ask your friends and family, as it is an ongoing fundraising project with is going really well. To discuss how to get items to us please call 0113 224 2902.

Bike Ride For World Peace
On 12th & 13th April, Pete, the teacher at the Roundhay Street Lane class, will be flexing his bike riding muscles and going on a 92 mile bike ride for World Peace! He will be cycling along the Leeds Liverpool canal from Leeds to Hindley, near Wigan. If you’d like to support him, you can download the form here and take it around your home and workplace and give everyone you know the chance to create a connection with the future Centre.

The Annual Ratnasambhava Centre Sponsored Walk, Saturday 14th June
If you would prefer to get involved with the sponsorship action yourself, this is the one for you! Anyone can join in, either as a sponsored walker or you can pay £15 to come along for the day, and that includes refreshments en route and a bring-and-share meal afterwards, including Chowang’s famous soup! Sponsorship forms will be available soon.

The Great Leeds Garden Party
Sunday 24th August

This was an amazing success last year, and this time there'll be a barbecue, lots of stalls and competitions, and a Silly Sports Event where you can take the Egg and Spoon challenge or fall over in the Sack Race. The entry fee is just £5 and includes barbecue and drinks. Come along for a relaxing afternoon whatever the weather!

Also in the pipeline…
We will be holding a fundraising meal at a very nice Leeds restaurant along with a silent auction, so you’ll be able to bid on some really unusual items whilst enjoying a delicious meal and great company! More details to be announced soon.
