  • A one day meditation workshop with Gen Kelsang Dornying

Saturday 15 June | 10-3pm | We all have bad habits that seem hard to break. Nobody really wants to engage in compulsive behaviour that affects their health, yet we can find ourself doing this on a daily basis. Nobody wants to hurt the people they love, yet it's often east to do. Bad habits make us unhappy, unhealthy and destroy our relationships and self-esteem. Buddhist phsychology uses meditation as a tool to develop new habits of thinking that lead to inner strength and confidence. On this workshop, experience this for yourself. Gen Kelsang Dornying is the Resident Teacher at KMC Leeds. Gen Dornying has been teaching Kadampa Buddhism for more than 20 years and has taught all over the world. He is an inspiring and light-hearted teacher who makes Buddha's teachings clear, accessible and applicable to daily life. Session times: 10-11am | 12-1pm | 2-3pm Course fee: £25 or free for Premium and Benefactor Members
  • Remembering the kindness of our Founder June 4th is the day that Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma in this world. On this special day we celebrate the activities and kindness of our root Guru and founder of the New Kadampa Tradition, Vemerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. On this day we emphasize faith, rejoicing and gratitude, natural sources of pure happiness. Using the special prayer 'Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples' and reciting our Guru's name mantra, we will offer our practice to him - especially our faith. There are three sessions using the sadhana 'The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra' and the special request prayer. The retreat will conclude with 'Offering to the Spiritual Guide', special prayers dedicated to the flourishing of Venerable Geshe-la's work in this world. Everyone is welcome! Session times: 9 - 10.30 am | 11 - 12.20pm | 2 - 3.30pm Offering to the Spiritual Guide: 4.30 - 6pm There is no charge for this event and everyone is welcome!
  • Spiritual Protection for our Time | Sat 1 June The teachings of Buddha are called Dharma. With a skillful navigator and crew, this voyage takes us beyond the ordinary, to deep levels of insight, freedom and happiness. In the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT) our navigator is Guru Tsongkhapa, ably assisted by the powerful protector Dorje Shugden, known as the protector for our time. On this daycourse, based on the teachings of the NKT 2024 Spring Festival, Gen Kelsang Dornying will introduce us to these powerful beings and explain how to rely upon them in conjunction with the practice of ‘Heart Jewel’. • with Special Guest Teacher: Gen-la Kelsang Jampa

Sunday 11th August | 11am - 12.15pm | £12 or free for Benefactor Members Although living beings have the same basic wish to be happy all the time, very few people understand the real causes of happiness. We usually believe that external conditions such as food, friends, lovers and money are the real causes of happiness and as a result, devote nearly all our time and energy to acquiring them. Superficially, it seems that these things can make us happy, but if we look more deeply, we will see that they also bring us a lot of suffering and problems. In reality, happiness cannot be bought, it cannot be found anywhere out in the world. It can only be found in our own heart. The real source of happiness is our own mental peace. It is time to Choose Happiness! At this special public talk, internationally renowned Buddhist meditation teacher Gen-la Kelsang Jampa will guide us to this peace. This is the greatest gift we can give ourself and those we love. Session times: 11am - 12.15pm | Public Talk 12.15 - 2pm | Lunch 2 - 2.30pm | Historic Building Tour 3 - 4.15pm | Wishfulfilling Jewel with Tsog
